Mexico trip - part 1

I realize that I haven't posted in months and months.  We have been super busy with a new baby and two moves.  We have moved back to the USA!!!  We miss our friends in Germany but are excited about returning as well.  Simon had a little bit of time in between jobs and we were able to take an incredible vacation to Mexico.  I have to admit, I was a little apprehensive about it.  We had a lot on our plate, but it ended up being awesome.  We spent three weeks exploring Mayan ruins, swimming in cenotes and relaxing on the beach.  First stop, Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza
This is one of the wonders of the world.  It is not the largest Mayan site, but it is very well preserved.  The main temple is impressive.

Auburn posing as Chacmool
The Mayans would put offerings on a bowl of the belly of Chacmool.

Simon's parents are serving a mission for our church in Mexico and we were able to meet up with them.

Conley taking a break from running around all of the ruins.

Uxmal
The Uxmal ruins were the next stop.  The kids loved having Grandma and Grandpa with us.

We climbed up to get great views.

The detail on the buildings were really neat.  This one has a snake that goes across the building.

Dzitnup Cenote
This was the first cenote that we saw.  A cenote is a natural sinkhole of limestone that is filled with water.  They are beautiful and so much fun to swim in.  We put out toes in these cenotes, but Daddy and Grandpa went swimming.

Campeche
We spent a night in this great little town on our way to Palanque and saw this beautiful church and rows of these colorful houses.

Wow, that water is so beautiful! Looks like a really fun trip, and you are brave to take all the kiddos with you. What's the secret to teaching your kids to be good travelers? :)

It's a ......

We found out last past week that we are expecting .... a baby boy! We are super excited! I had a feeling ever since we found out that I was pregnant that would be having a boy. Auburn came to the ultrasound with us and repeatedly said "baby" while we looked at the screen. We are excited for her to have a little brother. We just need to start thinking of baby boy names ....

Auburn's blessing

On Sunday, November 23rd, Simon was able to bless our precious little Auburn. Grandpa and Grandma Hill were able to be here for the blessing. I know that Papi and Grandma Little wished they could of been here as well. We had an earlier visit from the Littles when Auby was just a few weeks old. Grandma Hill made her beautiful dress and Grandma Perkins made her blanket. This weekend we had our first snowfall. The temperature was frigid and there was still snow on the ground. It still turned out to be a wonderful day. Auburn was her perfect little self. She didn't cry at all and her Daddy gave her a beautiful blessing. We are so blessed to have her in our lives!
