Chaing Mai

I know the post says Chaing Mai, but we also went to a place called Kanchanaburi which is about two and half hours away from Bangkok. We went to a place called Erawan Falls. This water fall has seven tiers that you can hike up and then bathe in the pools in between. I am proud to say that I made up six and half of the tiers. The last part involved some climbing so Auburn and stayed while Simon went to the top. It was really quite beautiful. It is a place that a lot of local Thais go on the weekend. I picked pictures without other people in them, but it was pretty full the day we went.
I think this was the fourth level.
Isn't she adorable?

Chaing Mai
Chaing Mai is in the northern part of Thailand. We got a sweet deal on some airline tickets and flew out of Bangkok. We went to an elephant camp, the zoo and saw a ton of cool Wats. At the elephant camp we saw the elephants bathe, play soccer, paint and put on a little show. We were also able to ride an elephant. It was pretty cool.

Simon getting some love from the elephants.

Auburn really liked the elephants. She kept calling them "dogs". That is what she calls almost every animal that has four legs.

We went to the zoo. It was unimpressive, but Auburn didn't really care. She loved seeing the animals and playing on the playground.

Doi Suthep
It is a Wat in the mountains and is one of the most sacred sites in Thailand for Buddhists.

There was some type of religious celebration going on while we were there, but we had no idea what it was.

I can't believe how big Auburn is getting! And those pools look spectacular. I'm impressed you made it to 6! Let Simon know Gold Heist made it today- Thank you! We'll wrap it and put it under the tree. Have fun in the Alps. It should be a different experience going this time of year.

movie of our trip to Mexico

Simon made a video of our trip to Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Since I haven't gotten around to posting about the rest of our trip (that happened a year ago), I am just going to post the link to the movie on youtube.  Hope you enjoy!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLnUgh7HfbM

Ich bin schwanger

Translation: I am pregnant! We are so excited to be parents again. I have been blessed to feel pretty good through the first trimester. The offical due date for our little one is May 12th. It is the day before our 4th anniversary. We don't really think that Auburn understands what is going on. When we say baby, she gets her baby doll. Although she does point to the ultrasound pictures and says baby, which I think is super sweet!

Mexico - Mayan ruins II

Simon's parents had to get back to their mission in Mexico City and we continued on our trip.  We saw a lot of ruins, 9 in total.  This is the next post of Mayan ruins.  It was actually great for the kids as well.  They could run around, climb and explore. It was interesting to see the differences at each sight.  The kids had their favorites by the end of the trip.  We also taught them a little bit about Mayan culture. Edzna   These well preserved carvings were great.       Palanque These were probably my favorite ruins.  It is set in the jungle and it felt very peaceful there. It is hard to believe that only 10 percent of the structures are actually uncovered.  The rest are still covered by the jungle. some well preserved carvings waterfalls in the middle of the ruins The Palace   Temple of Inscription   The kids had a great time climbing up and exploring...
