athens - part II

After I booked my ticket to Athens, Simon started looking at the soccer schedule in Greece.  He found a weekend a month after me where he could see three of the top Greece teams in the same weekend, his birthday weekend.  So, he decided to go to Athens.  After what happened during my trip I am glad that we went separate and kept the kids out of there.  So, during his trip there were no strikes, except that the games that he wanted to go to were either cancelled or close to spectators due to violence.  Poor guy.  He found one game of a lower division team playing from a man staying in his hostel that came to Athens for the same reasons he did.  Apparently at the end of the game there was some violence and the police used tear gas.  Simon was far ahead of the disturbance, but turned around took a picture and then started to cry.  He said it literally made him cry and it smelled awful.
I am glad that he is home safe and sound.  We both had a great time in Athens, but I don't think we will be returning anytime soon.

Hi Jodi! Okay, so we've never actually met, but I'm a Hill. I'm married to Simon's cousin, Brian (Brad's brother Dave's son). So I guess we are distantly related! :)

Anyways, I've been looking at your blog and am AMAZED at all the travel you've done and with your little ones. I would love to talk to you and get your take (and your tips) on traveling with kids. We've got a 9 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. Would you be willing to email me and maybe we can swap info to skype or something? :)

Thanks so much! Hope to hear from you soon!

movie of our trip to Mexico

Simon made a video of our trip to Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Since I haven't gotten around to posting about the rest of our trip (that happened a year ago), I am just going to post the link to the movie on youtube.  Hope you enjoy!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLnUgh7HfbM

Ich bin schwanger

Translation: I am pregnant! We are so excited to be parents again. I have been blessed to feel pretty good through the first trimester. The offical due date for our little one is May 12th. It is the day before our 4th anniversary. We don't really think that Auburn understands what is going on. When we say baby, she gets her baby doll. Although she does point to the ultrasound pictures and says baby, which I think is super sweet!

Mexico - Mayan ruins II

Simon's parents had to get back to their mission in Mexico City and we continued on our trip.  We saw a lot of ruins, 9 in total.  This is the next post of Mayan ruins.  It was actually great for the kids as well.  They could run around, climb and explore. It was interesting to see the differences at each sight.  The kids had their favorites by the end of the trip.  We also taught them a little bit about Mayan culture. Edzna   These well preserved carvings were great.       Palanque These were probably my favorite ruins.  It is set in the jungle and it felt very peaceful there. It is hard to believe that only 10 percent of the structures are actually uncovered.  The rest are still covered by the jungle. some well preserved carvings waterfalls in the middle of the ruins The Palace   Temple of Inscription   The kids had a great time climbing up and exploring...
