big boy

This guy is growing up so fast.  We can officially say that he is potty trained.  I started him a few months ago and we have slowly been potty training.  He was two and one month when I started, but his diapers were getting too small.  He has done awesome!  I think we are at three weeks of wearing big boy underwear all the time and no accidents.  He calls them his "big underwear".  I am super proud and excited to be done with diapers.

He is also starting to protest the stroller.  I was a little concerned taking both of the kids on the subway without a stroller, but they have done great.  When we have to walk a long way or go to the store then he has to ride.

This is a picture of him after a bath.  Simon combs his hair this way.
This is what they call "pelo funky".  Pelo is hair in Spanish.

He looks so grown up with his hair like that!

And, I am so jealous of 2 potty trained! We have made progress with Lisie, but not enough...

Mexico - Mayan ruins II

Simon's parents had to get back to their mission in Mexico City and we continued on our trip.  We saw a lot of ruins, 9 in total.  This is the next post of Mayan ruins.  It was actually great for the kids as well.  They could run around, climb and explore. It was interesting to see the differences at each sight.  The kids had their favorites by the end of the trip.  We also taught them a little bit about Mayan culture. Edzna   These well preserved carvings were great.       Palanque These were probably my favorite ruins.  It is set in the jungle and it felt very peaceful there. It is hard to believe that only 10 percent of the structures are actually uncovered.  The rest are still covered by the jungle. some well preserved carvings waterfalls in the middle of the ruins The Palace   Temple of Inscription   The kids had a great time climbing up and exploring...
