Mexico - Mayan ruins II

Simon's parents had to get back to their mission in Mexico City and we continued on our trip.  We saw a lot of ruins, 9 in total.  This is the next post of Mayan ruins.  It was actually great for the kids as well.  They could run around, climb and explore. It was interesting to see the differences at each sight.  The kids had their favorites by the end of the trip.  We also taught them a little bit about Mayan culture.

These well preserved carvings were great.

Palanque
These were probably my favorite ruins.  It is set in the jungle and it felt very peaceful there. It is hard to believe that only 10 percent of the structures are actually uncovered.  The rest are still covered by the jungle.

The Palace

Temple of Inscription

The kids had a great time climbing up and exploring these temples.

Becan
We had a day of mostly driving and decided to stop at these ruins.  It was small, but really nice to explore.  They were a pleasant surprise.

These two just amaze me.  They are best friends.
 He is just cute!

 My handsome hubby
He somehow convinced met to climb the ruins behind him.

 This little pumpkin.
I think I held her for almost the entire three weeks and she loved it.

Jodi, I just rediscovered your blog. Mexico looks amazing. It's still on the bucket list for us. St. Louis is very American. We're still adjusting. I hope you are enjoying New Jersey!

We found out last past week that we are expecting .... a baby boy! We are super excited! I had a feeling ever since we found out that I was pregnant that would be having a boy. Auburn came to the ultrasound with us and repeatedly said "baby" while we looked at the screen. We are excited for her to have a little brother. We just need to start thinking of baby boy names ....

Translation: I am pregnant! We are so excited to be parents again. I have been blessed to feel pretty good through the first trimester. The offical due date for our little one is May 12th. It is the day before our 4th anniversary. We don't really think that Auburn understands what is going on. When we say baby, she gets her baby doll. Although she does point to the ultrasound pictures and says baby, which I think is super sweet!
