Christmas in the Alps

This year for Christmas we ended up going to Simon's work cabin in Schliersee. We decided that since Auburn doesn't quite understand waking up on Christmas morning to open presents yet and we are so far away from family that there was no reason to stay in Munich. We left on Wednesday evening and stayed until Saturday. It was probably the most relaxing Christmas we will ever have. We slept in (even Auburn), played and relaxed. The cabin that his company has is awesome! They have a couple play rooms for the little ones with lots of new toys that Auburn loved playing with. They also have ping pong tables, a billard room, fussball tables, internet and a library. We also can take some amazing walks as we are in the Alps and close to the lake.

Outside Schliersee
our apartment was to the left of my head with all the windows on the top

I didn't want to carry all of our Christmas presents up to Schliersee, so we opened Christmas presents on the 26th when we returned home. Auburn loved all of our gifts and is still enjoying playing with the new toys.

She isn't walking yet, but she got this stroller from my parents from Christmas and has been taking it everywhere in our apartment. It took her a day to get use to it, but now she takes her "baby" and "bear" everywhere.

We hope that all of you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Auburn is SO beautiful!! What a great way to celebrate Christmas, too. Relaxing on a holiday is THE best. We chose to do this as well, although we only had the one day as Eric is in retail.

I LOVE that green dress on Auburn! And it is so cute to see pushing a stroller. I'm glad you had a nice Christmas. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

What an enchanting Christmas! I'm so glad you guys are having so many amazing experiences there. Kayley got a stroller for Christmas too and loves pushing as many stuffed animals and books around that she can possibly fit in there. She almost always has her bear and baby in there too. I can't wait to meet Auburn! She seems like such a happy, pleasant little girl. She's such a cutie! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! PS Did you find out what you are having?????????

Mexico - Mayan ruins II

Simon's parents had to get back to their mission in Mexico City and we continued on our trip.  We saw a lot of ruins, 9 in total.  This is the next post of Mayan ruins.  It was actually great for the kids as well.  They could run around, climb and explore. It was interesting to see the differences at each sight.  The kids had their favorites by the end of the trip.  We also taught them a little bit about Mayan culture. Edzna   These well preserved carvings were great.       Palanque These were probably my favorite ruins.  It is set in the jungle and it felt very peaceful there. It is hard to believe that only 10 percent of the structures are actually uncovered.  The rest are still covered by the jungle. some well preserved carvings waterfalls in the middle of the ruins The Palace   Temple of Inscription   The kids had a great time climbing up and exploring...
