England

The first week of January we took a trip to England. We spent a week in the Manchester area, saw four Premiership soccer games and just had a great time together as a family. Yes, it was cold, but it was a lot colder in Germany.

This picture is a little out of order. We headed down to a few little cities, Shrewsbury and Chester. These cities are famous for their Tudor architecture. I think Auburn is eyeing the shopping possibilities.

We headed to Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. This is Simon's favorite soccer team, and now mine as well. We actually came here back in 2006, but it was so awesome we had to come again. Man U won 4-0, thanks to a German hat trick from Rooney just for Auburn.

We headed to the Peak district on Sunday to see the area. This is not Stonehenge, but similiar rock circle called Castlerigg Stone Circle. The whole area was just beautiful!

We went to the National Media Museum in Bradford. I got to give the evening news and Simon and Auburn did the weather report.

We spent the morning exploring Manchester and the plan was for all of us to attend the four soccer matches, but after Auburn throwing up in the morning (she was totally fine just a little car sick) and my killer headache, Simon dropped us off at the hotel and went to the Bolton game alone. He had a great time of course and I am pretty sure that Bolton won the game.

We spent the day in northern Wales and in the evening we headed to Everton for game number three. We saw the American, Landon Donovan, score his first goal for Everton. Yes, it was cold, but I promise Mom that my daughter had on so many layers that she was nice and toasty warm!

In York we saw the National Railway museum. Look at our cute little Engineer!

We also walked around the city, saw the Minster, walked on the city walls and pretty much had a great time. I think York is a very charming English city.

On Friday we headed to Whitby. This is where a scene from the book "Dracula" takes place. We walked up to the Whitby Abbey, all 199 steps to get there. It took me and my pregnant self a little bit longer than Simon, who was carrying Auburn, but I made it. Whitby is also famous for the fish and chips. We ate at a yummy little place on the water.

The last game we went to was the Liverpool game. I am still amazed that we were able to get three tickets. I know, I put two pictures of Auburn at the game, but she had so many cute ones that day, and I couldn't decide.

It is so cool that you guys are getting to do all of this traveling!

And your belly is super cute. :) The crazy person in me is super jealous.
Jealous! The Peak district is in the newer Pride and Prejudice, and I've always wanted to go-it looks gorgeous!

You should write a book about Auburn's travels...from her point of view. The first pic here just screams such possibilities! Just think: a travel book from the perspective of an intellectual child. It'd sell like hotcakes!

We found out last past week that we are expecting .... a baby boy! We are super excited! I had a feeling ever since we found out that I was pregnant that would be having a boy. Auburn came to the ultrasound with us and repeatedly said "baby" while we looked at the screen. We are excited for her to have a little brother. We just need to start thinking of baby boy names ....

Ich bin schwanger

Translation: I am pregnant! We are so excited to be parents again. I have been blessed to feel pretty good through the first trimester. The offical due date for our little one is May 12th. It is the day before our 4th anniversary. We don't really think that Auburn understands what is going on. When we say baby, she gets her baby doll. Although she does point to the ultrasound pictures and says baby, which I think is super sweet!
