Happy Birthday!

Can you believe it has already been a year? It has just flown by for us! We are so excited to celebrate our little girl's first birthday! We feel so grateful to have her in our lives and just love watching her grow and develop. Since we live so far away from family, we decided to have a small party with just the three of us. Thank you for the gifts Grandma Little and Papi, Grandma and Grandpa Hill and Tanya. I love them! Auburn's first word after Dad and Mom was duck. She loves ducks. I attempted to make a cake that looked like a duck. I realized that I am not a cake decorator, but at least Auburn recognized what it was without promting. You mean I can really make a mess? This is kind of fun! The final mess. She didn't really like the cake. She has never had sugar before and so it was a little much for her. At least she had fun! Happy Birthday Auby!

what we have been doing this month... so far

being cute! sharing She shares all of her toys with everyone. Enjoying the last few days of summer Auburn loves ducks and we went to the park to see them while Daddy played soccer learning how to play the guitar with Daddy Simon went to the Bayern v. Wolfsberg game. Apparently it was awesome. Auburn and I stayed home and watched a chick flick. studying German This week Auburn went to the doctor for her one year check up. She weighed in at a whopping 8 kilos, which is a little more than 17 pounds. She is such a light weight, only in the 25 percentile. Although I don't know how, because she eats a ton of food! She getting up on her feet more and more but is not really close to walking She has learned how to say "dog" and she points out every dog she sees, which is a lot because we walk everywhere. She also says "baby" and "go", I think the count is about 7 words now. We are getting excited for the big one year birthday! I'll post pictures of...

Florida

Auburn and I were able to go back to Florida to visit my family for a reunion. Simon stayed in Germany and worked. The flights were a little crazy. Flying with a baby internationally by yourself is a little stressful, somehow though, we survived. Auburn did great on the planes and switched her schedule pretty quickly on both ends. Auburn and I actually spent a whole week in Orlando before the reunion started. We spent the time with my parents, my brother Kyle and his wife, who live in Orlando, and my sister Carrie, who was in between semesters at BYUI. We spent most of the time shopping, swimming or at the beach. My brother Brent, his wife and their three girls came down later. We also stopped off in Jacksonville for a day and a half to see some friends and do some business. I forgot to take pictures in Jax, I was just having such a good time catching up with people. We missed Simon a lot! It was nice to be able to see all of my family. We had a great time! Grandma and Papi's swi...

studying German

So yesterday Simon came home and was studying German in our bedroom. Auburn and I came in to get something. I set Auburn on the bed and she crawled to Simon. She picked up his German dictionary and brought it back to me. Simon then made a joke about how she was trying to tell me that I needed to look up some German and study. After that she went back to Simon and brought me his pen, as to say "write it down Mom". Simon and I laughed. I guess I just got called out by my daughter.

Swimming

We took off to Fasaneriesee (a lake in Munich) on Saturday to take Auburn swimming for the first time. We finally had weather that was nice enough to swim outside. The lake was actually close enough to our house that Simon could ride his bike. Auburn loved the water. It was a little cold, but she didn't seem to mind at all. It was so fun to see her have this new experience.

Audi Cup

This is Allianz Arena in Munich. The outside color is changed depending on which team from Munich is playing there. Blue for 1860 and Red for Bayern. Auburn enjoying the game! Last week we headed to Allianz arena in Munich for the Audi Cup. It was a short two day tournament. We went on the last day of the tournament and watched Boca Juniors win third place over AC Milan. We then watched Manchester United and Bayern Munich play for the final. The game was scoreless and went to penelty kicks. Man U lost to Bayern. We had a great night together!

Reading

Auburn loves books! Since she was only 3 months old she would sit and watch you turn the pages of a book. A few months ago she figured out how to turn the pages on her own. She thought she was pretty clever. Now that she is crawling, she will find a stack of her books, pull all of them down and flip through them one by one. At the end of the day I find every single book on the ground and open to a different page. I hope that she will always love books!
